I personally enjoy this read on ikigai:
Jung's Map of the Soul:
If you want to go deeper into understanding the Jungian archetypes and the journey to love oneself, I would recommend, Jung's Map of the Soul by Murray Stein.
The questions we tend to hear in life is:
What do you want to do?
Why do you want to do it?
Do you love it?
Why are you doing it if you don't love it?
Then comes the buts, ifs, and maybe so.
If you did it this way...
But that way isn't best...
Maybe that 'could' work...but I think you 'should' do it this way...
Hey world, two words, SHUT UP!
Not everyone has the ability or personality to do what they love as a career. That's why hobbies exist and people are multifaceted creatures, we can love many different things. Not all of them has to be the one we can call our career.
Humans tend to judge others based on the persona showcased to them. You spend a few minutes with a person and swear you know them. You know my face and my name, not my story. You don't want to walk a mile in our shoes but feel entitled enough to tell us what shoe we should or should not wear. No one knows your true struggles outside of you. You can say you are sad or happy. Those are words. But they can't feel how your sadness affects you nor how happiness helps you to remember why you see in colour.
The happiest person can also be the saddest one in the room. You don't know if the smile is for you or the smile is the only thing holding back the tears they want to shed.
Just because I classified a part of my core as a performer doesn't mean I am performing for you or want to perform in front of a crowd. Dance is an unspoken language that tells a story. Acting is embodying a new persona outside of your own to tell a story. I love performing because I can tell a story without being me. I am extremely introverted. So, one may ask, "But you love the stage, how could that be possible?" Then, I will ask you this, name one thing you do that causes a disconnect with reality when you do it, and when you have the answer, you will start to understand how I feel about performing. I am just telling the story, expressing emotions, allowing my voice to be heard. But understand this, I am not asking you to listen. Books can stay on shelves for years, that doesn't mean that the story isn't out there and wasn't told, you just didn't read it.
So, what's my purpose? Why do I do the things I do, the way I do?
To find nirvana. To be happy with me. To find my self. Understand, we all live our lives the best way we know how.
No is an answer too, and I am allowed to reject suggestions and argue to protect myself.
Before you even try to walk two steps in my shoes, learn to walk in your own first, and ask yourself what's your purpose? Why do you do the things you do, the way you do them? Answer that first, and only after you are sure about the answer, are you truly allowed to 'try' and interfere in another's journey. Though I do hope you notice that it is a personal journey, only one passenger can find the true answer and no one is obligated to share that answer with you. How a person chooses to share their stories is up to them; your passion doesn't have to be your career but you should be passionate about the work you do. That is two separate arguments.
I am Grey Wolf and this is one of my many personas. Does that mean what I say are lies? No. These are my personal opinions, my views. I share how I feel with you all and that is my choice. Whether you agree with the points that I make, well that's your choice.
Life isn't black and white. Some of us like to live in the greys. If you are ready to walk a mile in our shoes to understand us, then try to understand all of us, not just the first impression or the few chosen pieces of our lives that we may choose to share. If not, kindly reserve your unwanted comments for you and your mirror.
I hope you're vibing and grooving,
With all my love,
Greylan Wolf.
